Technology Revolution 4.0 in Hygiene Applications with LinMot’s PR02 Linear Rotary Motors

A few years ago, the leading Swiss manufacturer LinMot introduced a completely new generation of electric drives that combine the functions of linear and rotary motors.

Soon after, the company developed a second generation of such solutions, which are distinguished by advanced characteristics and wide application in industrial automation systems, where there is a combination of rotary and reciprocating movements, for example, screwing caps, fasteners, etc.

The PR02 linear rotary drive series, which is distinguished by a highly integrated design – all main and auxiliary components are housed in a compact and precisely sealed housing. Together with the smooth and clean surface of the drive, this guarantees extremely easy cleaning and leads to a real technological revolution in hygienic applications – in the food, pharmaceutical and other industries with strict sanitary requirements

Unprecedented flexibility

A key advantage of the series is its impressive flexibility. The PR02 models can be equipped with a pneumatic pusher, a magnetic spring (using the patented “MagSpring” technology), a torque and/or force sensor, and can be made with a hollow shaft (in the “hollow-shaft” version). The individual variants can also be combined with each other.

The innovative PR02 motors fit perfectly into Industry 4.0 scenarios, as they can provide all the necessary data for networked and intelligent production. With the help of real-time information about the status and operation of the drive and feedback from additional sensors (optional), the system can provide details about the vertical position, the pressure or interaction force, the closing angle and the torque.

Design and equipment options

  • With magnetic pull or push spring (in different sizes) – for passive compensation of the mass of the tooling or motors in motion;
  • With force and/or torque sensors – for precise and reproducible combinations of rotary and linear movements, with the option of data acquisition and continuous real-time tracking, monitoring of the closed position;
  • Hygienic version with stainless steel front panel, resistant to cleaning agents and certified for use in the food, chemical industry, etc.;
  • PR04-52: lightweight version with extended stroke – special version of PR02-52 with a working stroke length of up to 200 mm, lower weight and compact design, suitable even for the most limited installation spaces;
  • PR02-52 SSCH: version with a fully stainless steel housing – for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, with minimal maintenance requirements and a design resistant to cleaning agents and procedures;
  • PR02-40: slimline version – with a width of only 40 mm, this is the most compact version of the series, which not only offers full functionality, but also allows the same flexible customization with on-demand options as the rest of the family.
