Retrofit control of an herbal dryer

Gemamex successfully implemented a task of replacing an existing contactor control system with more advance one – frequency regulators.

Herbal and mushroom drying have very specific processes and require a good knowledge in drying for every type of products. They require a precise temperature regulating and different air flow speeds to achieve a higher quality of the final product, corresponding to the requirements for herbal drying. To be able to achieve those results “Trend 62” needed a new and more advanced solution.

The INVT GD20 frequency converters solved the following problems:

• Precise regulation of the air flow for each zone controlled with a potentiometer. Smooth control of all fans and quick start-up.
• System recovery after a power failure. Fast-ramp for turning off the fans. The implemented braking resistors allows the fans to stop in 5-10 seconds.
• Drastic drop in electricity costs. The system control with frequency converters also regulates the power, which is supplied to the fans.
